Apparently, all around the world more and more parents are shaking their babies to death and the statistics of this form of abuse are rising steadily. SBS or Shaken Baby Syndrome, appears to be the 'in label' being used in many child abuse cases, that is after Munchausen by Proxy, which also seems to be on the rise. Statistics say that 4000 cases of SBS or shaken baby syndrome are reported every year to paediatric hospitals and these are the most serious of cases. Research shows that an estimated 2 to 3 children under the age of two, out of every 100,000, are shaken, as a form of discipline. These are the statistics reported by Massachusetts Citizens for Children SBS website They have been advocating for children for five decades 1959 – 2009.

The above site states:-

"Boys are more frequently identified as victims of Shaken Baby Syndrome, though researchers do not fully understand why. Shaken baby cases are most frequently reported at around 2 months of age".

The site shows a variety of distressing photos of children with horrific injuries and says that even children who were initially symptom free tend to go on to have learning disabilities and other delays once they reach school age.

In Scotland, England and Wales research shows similar statistics, stating that in the southwest England and south Wales the incidence of subdural haematoma was 21.0 per 100,000 children under one year of age.

A 15-year retrospective study in Scotland suggested that an estimated incidence of NAHI of 11.2 per 100,000 children under one year was an underestimate because shaken impact syndrome is not a single coding entity in the international classification of diseases (ICD)3.

The figures in North Carolina were even more staggering showing a massive estimated 30 children out of every 100,000 apparently being shaken under the age of one.

Suddenly, parents are shaking their babies so viciously and so violently, that centres and websites are being set up all over the world for information on 'Shaken Baby Syndrome' to cater for the influx. This is where the brain goes into overdrive and you have to step back and think, is this really a fact? Are parents worldwide suddenly shaking innocent little vulnerable babies so hard and so venomously as to cause them permanent brain damage or even death? Could this really be the case?

Child abuse has always existed, that is a fact. We often read in our newspapers of cases of severe neglect and abuse and stories of horrific injuries inflicted on young children. In the UK only recently there has been a case of 'Baby P'. This case, was possibly one of the worst and most disturbing in England to date. A little boy of just two years of age was systematically beaten to death throughout his life. Injuries and abuse were missed time and time again by a variety of professionals and he died with the following injuries:-

Eight broken ribs and a broken back, with another area of bleeding around the spine at neck level.

Numerous bruises, cuts and abrasions, including a deep tear to his left ear lobe, which had been pulled away from his head.

Severe lacerations to the top of his head, including a large gouge which could have been caused by a dog bite.

Blackened finger- and toenails, with several nails missing; the middle finger of his right hand was without a nail and its tip was also missing, as if it had been sliced off.

A tear to his fraenulum, the strip of skin between the middle of the upper lip and the gum, which had partially healed.

One of his front teeth had also been knocked out and was found in his colon. He had swallowed it.

This clearly shows abuse does happen and will continue to happen, sadly it is fact of life. However, does it happen as frequently as 30 in every 100,000 children? These are the figures just for SBS remember, then you have the figures for MSBP or Munchausen by Proxy which are as reported on a paper A new name for Munchausen Syndrome by Proxy: defining Fabricated or Induced Illness by Carers by Ellen Fish, Leah Bromfield and Daryl Higgins

"An estimated six hundred cases of two forms of MSbP (suffocation and non accidental poisoning) were estimated to occur in the United States in 1996 (Ayoub et al. 2002);

Eighteen reported cases per annum were reported in New Zealand (Denny et al. 2001 cited in Pritchard 2004);

About fifty cases a year were reported in the UK (Meadow 1994 cited in Pritchard 2004).

What has been known as MSbP has been reported as occurring in 24 different countries (Feldman and Brown 2002, cited in Pritchard 2004).

An estimate from one Australian study was an annual rate of between 15.2 and 24.5 cases (Tait, Donal, Moran, Jureidini and Schreier 2004)."

So according to the above the world is full of child abusing nutters, however, could there be something even more sinister lurking beneath the surface? Many professionals believe that there is. Many believe that it is not the parents who are causing all these awful injuries on these children but their injuries are being caused by the routine vaccines. Difficult to believe? Well perhaps but some of their theories do shed light on the matter and many of them do make sense.

In 2008, Charles Pragnell wrote an article called Doctors in Dilemma Speaking about the diagnosis of Munchausen Syndrome By Proxy, Shaken Baby Syndrome, Repressed Memory Syndrome, Satanic Ritual Abuse, Parental Alienation Syndrome, Dissociative Disorder, he said the following:-

"Medical theories of child abuse such as Shaken Baby Syndrome appear to have been used as a first choice in a differential diagnosis by some paediatricians called in after a child has died of indeterminate causes. If faced with very sick children and overtly anxious parents, paediatricians have at times - without undertaking a thorough and exhaustive examination of all of the possible causes of the child´s illness - blamed the parents for the children´s illnesses – Fabricated or Induced Illness in Children""

He carries on:-

"Bruises on the back of an infant must be inflicted since the infant is not mobile enough to bruise itself".

Spontaneous bruising and bleeding are a feature of a disorder of haemostasis of which the commonest at this age are Vitamin C and K deficiencies and Alloimmune Thrombocytopenia. All should be checked by a Haematologist.

"Posterior rib fractures are highly indicative of non-accidental injury and are most commonly sustained as a result of compression of the chest as the baby is held as it is shaken.

This is a direct quotation from a Court case in England. This speculation (or better described as a myth or fabrication) is particularly distressing as fractures of different ages are then held to be evidence of repeated episodes of shaking. There is good evidence that without adequate Vitamin K bones are liable to spontaneous fractures and appropriate tests for Vitamin K Deficiency Disease should be carried out before such accusations are made [1].

"Abused infants may have bleeding around the brain and in the eyes – the alleged hallmarks of SBS - but most also bear signs of the violence which killed them such as fractures, bruises, burns, malnutrition or neglect.

Regrettably this is the commonly held opinion of medical experts giving evidence for the Prosecution in cases of alleged child abuse. It ignores the fact that fractures and bruises can result from deficiencies of Vitamins C and/or K [1,2] and these deficiencies are not necessarily the result of neglect. In fact Vitamin C deficiency is not uncommonly iatrogenic as the result of the number of vaccines given to these infants[3,4]. Vitamin K deficiency is often due to immaturity or infection of the liver.

Rutty et al [5] have warned of the possibility of mistaking retinal and subdural haemorrhages for child abuse but the message does not seem to have registered in some circles.

As regards fractures and bruises found on a child. It is absurd to demand a detailed explanation from a parent for many such injuries. How is a parent expected to explain such injuries to a doctor? How can a 20 year old distressed and bewildered mother be expected to say to a doctor,

"You know, Doctor, there are several Vitamin K dependent proteins in the body which require to be carboxylated by the enzyme gamma-glutamyl carboxylase before they become functional. Without Vitamin K, these proteins, some of which control haemostasis and prevent bruising, and others which control mineralization of bone and prevent fractures, cease to be carboxylated and hence bruises and fractures are likely to occur[1]. And what is more, Doctor, last week you gave my baby an antibiotic for his cough. That could have destroyed the Vitamin K 2 forming bacteria in his gut thereby adding to his problem of a lack of Vitamin K to protect him from bruises and fractures.

That is my explanation doctor. I hope you can understand it and don´t report me to the police or social services. They may take my baby away and kill all my dreams."

If the doctor cannot explain it, he should consult the literature on the subject.

Burns

So-called "burns" on a child are also often misinterpreted by medical experts. In one example an innocent man was sent to prison on the basis of flawed evidence by a medical expert who swore that the marks on the child were cigarette burns, whereas they were clearly the lesions of microscopic polyarteritis that one can see in Kawasaki Disease. The "burns" that Victoria Climbie was alleged to have suffered are also most probably of a similar origin. They will almost certainly show the characteristic findings of Kawasaki Disease – neutrophilia, lymphopenia, AST > ALT.

Retinal Haemorrhages. The Royal College of Ophthalmologists Working Party concluded in terms of the force required to cause retinal haemorrhages "..no absolute values can be given for the angular acceleration forces required to produce injury, but there is good evidence that they must be considerable.

No one has ever observed such "angular acceleration forces" being applied to the infant. If it has not been observed, it is imagined and hence has no scientific validity. Rutty et al have drawn attention to retinal haemorrhages in Late Onset Haemorrhagic Disease of the Newborn [5].

False allegations of child abuse and child murder and consequent false imprisonment of parents and carers are rife in the English-speaking world and are largely the result of what can be described as "pseudological fantasies" and fanciful speculations of paediatricians."

So it appears there are other possible reasons for these horrific injuries. Many of the above injuries can and do occur after childhood vaccinations. A very interesting rapid response by the retired pathologist and a hematologist Dr Michael Innis said the following in the British Medical Journal on line rapid responses

The Shaken Baby Syndrome (SBS) is receiving renewed attention by the Ophthalmology Child Abuse Working Party (OCAWP) deciding to develop new "guidelines" for the diagnosis of retinal haemorrhages associated with intracerebral haemorrhages.

The first essential of their endeavour should be to establish the validity of the diagnosis of SBS. Does such a condition exist or is it the diagnosis of those who "think dirty" when unable to explain a particular group of signs and symptoms in a child?

Of 21 cases of alleged child abuse sent to me for my opinion from four countries including the UK, USA and Australia, 16 had retinal, intracerebral and other haemorrhages with or without fractures. #

All 16 were either vaccinated within 21 days of the onset of their symptoms or had documented evidence of a haemostatic, liver or nutritional disorder. All had a history of Apnoea at the onset of their symptoms.

If the OCAWP seek to guide the profession on the distinction between accidental and non-accidental retinal haemorrhages they must first document a SINGLE case of retinal haemorrhages associated with intracerebral haemorrhages that did not occur within 21 days of being vaccinated and had no evidence of a haematological, liver or nutritional disorder,

Since the authors declare they have served as expert witnesses in suspected non-accidental injury they will obviously have a number of cases upon which they can draw to produce just ONE ADEQUATELY INVESTIGATED CASE of SBS with none of the features mentioned above.

If between them they cannot produce a single case they should admit that the concept of Shaken Baby Syndrome is an aberration unworthy of inclusion in the Medical lexicon.

Many professionals agree with him. Dr Harold Buttram is a professional who has spoken out about vaccines being a possible cause of many of the cases that are seen to be SBS.

In a report by Susan Pearce Shaken Baby Syndrome – Is it Child Abuse – Or Something Else? Vaccine Liberation she writes this;-

"Dr. Buttram also wrote about free iron that is released from subdural hematomas, in an article entitled, "Does Free Iron in the Brain Interact with Vaccines to Trigger Lipid Peroxidation and Hemorrhagic Encephalopathy?" [10] In the section called Vaccines and Vitamin C Depletion, he explained that though 30 mg of vitamin C is usually sufficient for a healthy baby, when the infant is stressed, it could be quickly consumed. The stress causing this depletion could be "free iron in and around the brain, the injection of vaccine components, or other factors, especially in combination." Toxins and free-radical generators found in vaccines include "formaldehyde, mercury, aluminum, phenols, alcohols, mineral oil, antibiotics, bacterial endotoxins, and foreign viral DNA. Viral infections have been shown to reduce vitamin C levels by 50 percent.

There is a lack of scientific studies needed to prove the causes of SIDS and of SBS. Vaccines are rarely even considered as a cause, but there are "animal models for vaccine-induced/endotoxemic hemorrhagic encephalopathy in the scientific literature." [10] These experiments have been done using the whole-cell pertussis vaccine, though the acellular pertussis vaccine is now being used. The use of many vaccines at one time has unknown consequences and could possibly be the same as or exceed the effects seen with use of the whole-cell pertussis vaccine."

Dr Andrew Moulden also has backed the vaccine injury theory as a possible cause for many sudden infant deaths .Speaking about one case he says the following about a SIDS case which can be found on Shirley's Wellness Cafe website:-

"Dr Andrew Moulden BA, MA, MD, PhD. - "Baby M was a healthy child. On January 24th, 2007, at 15 months of age, this child received an MMR vaccination administered at Harbor Pediatrics, Orange County, California, as part of the standard well baby examination/follow-up. Within hours of vaccination this child began exhibiting symptoms and signs consistent with an adverse reaction to vaccination. He became withdrawn, listless, bradyphrenic, and bradykinetic. He exhibited increased sensitivity to noxious stimuli. He exhibited a progressive decrease in spontaneous vocalizations. He developed difficulties moving his arms and legs. He had testicular swelling. His facial expression and animation became flat. Subtle ischemic bulbar palsies emerged. He experienced emesis 2 days post vaccination. Child Michael's condition continued to deteriorate, neurobehaviorally, despite the families repeat visits to medical professionals seeking answers to Child MTM´s emerging clinical symptoms and signs. Ultimately, the deterioration progressed to seizures, apnea, intubation (respiratory failure in hospital), and brain death."

She spoke to Toni Blake who runs SBS Defence Fund. Due to the high volume of interest she is giving another interview with Toni Blake this Monday night 6th July - krfcfm.org - 6 to 7 pm MST Leslie says this on her website:-

Ms. Blake will provide information and explanations for falsely accused Shaken Baby Syndrome cases that may indeed be due to pre-existing neurological problems and not SBS. Some of those brain injury cases may be related to infant immunizations.

Those individuals wrongly accused of SBS face legal charges and potential jail time for a crime they did not commit. This is another area that is hardly looked at in terms of the "unknowns" due to vaccine injuries.

Lisa Blakemore-Brown believes and has done for years that parents are being falsely accused of abuse. She believes as do many that blaming the parents is a cover up for children who have been vaccine damaged. "Adverse reactions to vaccines are well known"

"Everyone working in public health knows that there are adverse reactions to every drug and vaccine that's ever been manufactured. These reactions are multiple and have been studied by medics for decades. What is shocking is that instead of admitting this, extraordinary efforts have been put in place to damn those who dare to mention them, including the innocent parents who took their child for vaccine and watched them react. Ms Coombes, sad to say, joins the ranks of the establishment who will do anything rather than admit that sometimes vaccines cause adverse reactions to some people. That includes blaming the parents and hounding them to their own graves.

"It is helpful and timely that Ms Coombes has picked up the Trinidad and Tobago case from The One Click website. The baby in question had a nose bleed following vaccine before he died. This is not an isolated incident following vaccine as anyone with integrity and a conscience knows.

"A glance at VAERS reveals that there have been over 350 reports relating to people of all ages (so not just children before Ms Coombes blames Barbara Loe Fisher for directing parents there} who have suffered from Epistaxis following vaccine (amongst other things). What is tragic is that,of the infants who reacted in this way, many died, compared to just one reported death amongst older people. Clearly those infants could not cope with the assault on their vulnerable systems. Surely, instead of turning their backs on these children, science" should be establishing why they reacted,not turning blind commercial eyes to them, thus increasing their suffering.

"In a recent Panorama programme, David Southall raised the incident of a nose bleed suffered by Stephen and the late Sally Clark's first child Christopher. The nose bleed came a few days after vaccination, like so many in the VAERS list. A week later he died like others also on that list.

"David Southall famously reported Stephen Clark to the Crown Prosecution Service after he saw him discuss the nose bleed in a TV documentary, saying he had a duty, as it was child abuse, specifically intentional suffocation. More hell landed on this tragic family.

"Eventually David Southall was found guilty by the GMC of professional misconduct over the matter and the BBC gave Mr Southall the opportunity to repeat his assertions about the nose bleed, even going to the extent of showing the original Dispatches programme on which Mr Clark talked about the nose bleed. So effectively Mr Southall is continuing to assert that Mr Clark murdered his child. Shamefully, Mr Southall claimed that he did this out of concern for Sally Clark and the child who remained with Mr Clark.

"I say shamefully, because what David Southall failed to mention was that there is another variable continually left out of the differential diagnosis after such events - the possibility of vaccine damage. He failed to mention that nose bleeds can occur after vaccine and that indeed so can "cot death".

"A year later, the Clark's next baby died just five hours after vaccination and no-one, lawyer or Expert, would raise the matter in Court, instead damning an innocent mother, now deceased through grief.

"It is impossible for both Sir Roy Meadow and Mr Southall to NOT know about these vaccine adverse reactions in the Clark case when they gave evidence.

"It is also impossible for Professor Salisbury to not know that there are various sorts of adverse reactions including brain and immune system damage leading to autism, and that survivors can suffer for the rest of their lives, along with their families. Both Professor Salisbury and Sir Roy Meadow have been on the JCVI committees where they actively discuss how to spin out adverse reactions.

"They should all be ashamed of themselves."

She carried on to say a lot more in her justifiably angry outburst, on the One Click News site. The one thing I have always admired about this lady is that she is unafraid to say it as she sees it, she has the courage of her convictions, which is a hell of a lot more than can be said about the many Governments and Drug Companies who hide behind the apron strings of those they accuse. She has tried to help vaccine damaged children for over a decade and stood by many parents who have faced the trauma of being falsely accused of child abuse sometimes even murder. She is a brave and wonderful lady who deserves credit instead of the immense criticism and abuse hurled at her. So I say good on you Lisa the BMJ may not appreciate your frankness and honesty but others do.

So this leaves one burning question, are there now thousands of parents worldwide suddenly shaking, smothering and poisoning their children or could vaccines be doing more harm than good in some children? Certainly there will always be cases like Baby P but maybe doctors should look at all options rather than taking the easy route of blaming the parents. This is an act of cowardness and as we have seen from what Lisa wrote, it can ultimately drive a falsely accused parent to their grave.

I dedicate this article to a very special baby boy and to his parents Mr and Mrs B who have recently been accused of SBS after he died suddenly very shortly after vaccines. God Bless you in your quest to find the truth.
